A Canada Day Carnival
When we arrived at the Glencoe Golf and Country Club, Natasha, Elizabeth, and the rest of the team were setting up for their big Canada Day Carnival. The prestigious golf club put on the tailored event for Canada 150, the anniversary of Canada’s confederation.
The Glencoe, completed in 1984, is the first golf course in Canada to be designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the celebrated and internationally acclaimed golf course architect. The course boasts 45 holes, which include two 18-hole courses and one 9-hole run. The property is 440 acres of gorgeous parkland, home to all sorts of wildlife and the snaking flow of the Elbow River.
For the celebration, everyone was dressed up in Canada Day clothing, wearing everything from bright red shirts to maple leaf skirts. They all looked great, and everyone from the servers to the staff manning the booths were decked out in red and white.
The Main Event
As the members arrived at the event, they were shuttled from the main gate to the carnival in golf carts, each with a private driver! At the celebration entrance, Steam Whistle Brewing had a beer tent set up to provide refreshments to the guests. The team members in the tent were there to make sure the guests were all well hydrated in the summer heat.
To the right of the Steam Whistle tent stood the Sugar Cube candy truck. Established in 2013 by Alyssa Tilston, they are one of our wonderful partners at Event Core, the one stop shop for events. They had their truck set up with an array of delicious goodies to satisfy any sweet tooth. The Sugar Cube had a great selection of cotton candy, one of their many specialties. Throughout the whole day, they were happy to share their passion for candy with the guests at the event, as Glencoe was providing an open candy bar to the visitors who popped by the purple truck.
Prime rib on a bun was served by the Glencoe staff, with an array of items available and all the fixings. There was a popcorn station set up for snacks, and a bouncy castle for the kids to enjoy. A stage was set up for a dance, decorated with a huge Canadian flag in the background.
A giant cake was presented to celebrate the 150th, and carnival games, such as giant checkers and clown toss, were scattered throughout the area. It was so much fun to spend time at the Glencoe’s fabulous Canada Day event. The guests had a great time, and we are excited to share the photos of the fantastic celebration!
